Refund and Privacy Policies
NOTE: If you have visited the Web site of some competing political organization, and didn't see similar policies posted on their Web sites, then perhaps they didn't read all of the contracts with the payment processing companies thoroughly.
-------------------------------------
Refunds: By clicking the payment button below, you are acknowledging and certifying (as with a signature) that:
- I am a legal adult, over the age of 18, and am free and legally able to enter into binding contracts, including this payment arrangement.
- I understand that this payment is for a political campaign contribution. Specifically, I understand that this is to voluntarily support the National Veterans Coalition, which is an outreach of the national Constitution Party.
- I understand that a political campaign contribution is an intangible service, for which a refund is impossible.
- I understand that the service that I receive from the National Veterans Coalition may take years to materialize as part of the political process. There is no way to measure the effect of my specific contribution.
- I hereby agree to hold harmless the payment processors (PayPal, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, etc.), and the National Veterans Coalition, for any liability or damage resulting from my attempt to contribute to this organization.
- I understand that this contribution is to support the Constitution Party, and not the Democratic or Republican parties.
-------------------------------------
Privacy: The following is the payment processing privacy policy (P4) of the National Veterans Coalition (NVC):
- The NVC respects the privacy of every Web site visitor.
- Except for voluntary submissions (such as joining the NVC e-mail list), this campaign does not collect site visitor-specific information.
- The server company does keep statistical information, including ISP Addresses, for later analysis. This information is not shared with anyone, per their service agreement. The recorded information allows the NVC Webmaster to analyze numbers of page views, most popular pages, etc. The ISP Address can aid law enforcement personnel in tracking unauthorized access ("hacking"), and to trace any threats made against the candidate, etc. (NOTE: Threats and harassment are State crimes. Interfering with an election campaign for Federal office (by such techniques as "hacking", "phishing", and/or data-mining) is a Federal crime. Such activities will be reported to, and investigated by, both State and Federal agencies.)
- Except for record-keeping that is specifically required by the Federal Election Commission (FEC), or by the payment processing companies, the National Veterans Coalition does not keep records of site visitors or contributors.
- During the sign-up process, a person may opt-in to the NVC e-mail list. That person may opt-out at any time via the mechanism provided by the e-mail list service.
- Neither the e-mail list service, nor the payment processing companies, share information about payments made via the National Veterans Coalition.
- However, such contributions are public record, by Federal law and FEC Rules, and will be posted by the FEC in their searchable database. That database does not include specifics (such as account numbers) about the payments, but does include some specifics about the person (or organization) that makes the contribution. The data required for collection and reporting to the FEC is marked as the "required information" on the NVC sign-up form.
- The NVC apologizes to its contributors for the fact that such information must be collected, reported, and made public. However, the fairness and integrity of the political process demands a public accounting of such contributions.
- The NVC will not share information about its supporters and/or contributors, other than as described above. In the event of a court order (which we will oppose vigorously), the National Veterans Coalition will make every reasonable and legal attempt to notify the person(s) affected by the order.
- The information collected by the NVC is stored by secure servers at undisclosed locations off-site. Those servers are presumed to be in the State of California.
- As of the publication of this policy (Mon, 19 Feb 2006), no personal information is stored -- neither in printed form, nor in the the "main control computer" (a fairly old PC) -- within the Operations Division of the National Veterans Coaliiton. If this should change in the future, then reasonable and generally accepted physical security measures will be taken to safeguard the information.
